A different perspective on design.
I began thinking about ways of defining ‘design’ in a way I hadn’t heard of. How can I describe design without using the traditional definition, be relevant even if this described matter floating in space, without any context of things we know of and just be on its own. This definition gives me a 20,000 foot view of things when I am designing things. I tend to go very deep into hippie stuff as well so bear with me, things are about to get confusing.
DESIGN IS HARMONY WITHIN A SYSTEM
Design is a configuration of form which makes it functional, efficient, harmonious with the elements within the confines of a frame of reference.
SCALE OF DESIGN
Designed is present in microscopic elements and as well as on the grand cosmic scale.
Design always is based on certain guidelines, laws and limitations.
Without limitations and rules, things are just in a random arrangement devoid of meaning.
You can take part in design or be controlled by it. To design, one must rise above the problem, look at it from the outside in.
APPROACH FOR DESIGN
Designers need to observe and see/find patterns in . Analyzing them will help to see where the . and reiterate the process till a harmony is achieved.
Design should aim be efficient, robust, adaptive, multifunctional and scalable.
It doesn’t have to be a single person to think all that is why design should be collaborative.
FALLACIES IN CURRENT DESIGN
Everything that we consider trash is man made. Nature doesn’t produce trash.
We need to use all the trash produced to build solutions and answers to all the growing problems, ocean pollution, land space.
Things need to be produced in a way they are reusable.
BETTER ARCHITECTURE FOR MORE EFFICIENCY
Thinking of how things would be if it was 10, 20 or 30 times more than they were taken into account while planning would help people make smarter and thought–through decisions.
DEMOCRATIZATION OF DESIGN
Design thinking is the diffrentiator for organizations. To bring a change Design needs more participants and collaboration.
